Danish Husain is one of the most prominent modern Indian storytellers, specialising in the 12th century Urdu form of Dastangoi, introduced by the renowned 12th century composer Amir Khusrow. Qissebaazi builds on the traditional Dastangoi form, by performing each story in 2 languages – the core language of the original text and a ‘bridge’ language. The master text, Tilism-e-Hoshruba, is a section from the classic Urdu romance epic Dastan-e-Amir Hamza. This is the first-ever presentation of Danstangoi in the UK. A must for all lovers of storytelling theatre.
