Paul Ryan and Kenny Clayton may be masters of the Great American Songbook but they are also both committed Francophiles. The title of their new show translates as “French sung here” and they will be dipping into the songbooks of many French artists, including Charles Trenet, Michel Legrand, Charles Aznavour and Jacques Brel (OK, he was Belgian, but he wrote in French). With sidelong glances at France from the likes of Cole Porter and Harry Warren, the show will be performed in a mixture of French and English. So, even if French is all Greek to you, there will be much to enjoy in this salute to the Entente Cordiale.
