”Gypsy” producer Michael Harrison has hinted that the show may return
Could the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Gypsy starring Imelda Staunton return?
Michael Harrison, producer of the show's West End run at the Savoy Theatre, hinted as much when talking to WhatsOnStage at this year's WhatsOnStage Awards.
After picking up the award for Best Musical Revival, Harrison said: "We are actively pursuing what happens next with the production. I can probably say no more than that, but it won't take a genius to fill in the blanks."
He went on to say: "It shouldn't be the last time that people get the opportunity to see Imelda perform that role live."
Gypsy won four awards at this year's WhatsOnStage Awards – Best Musical Revival, Best Actress in a Musical (Imelda Staunton), Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (Lara Pulver) and Best Direction (Jonathan Kent). The show ran to rave reviews in Chichester in 2014, before transferring to London in April 2015.
