West Yorkshire Playhouse hosts acclaimed new shows in November

Throughout November, the theatre will be presenting new work from Unlimited Theatre, Improbable, Jonzi D and The Paper Birds

During November, the West Yorkshire Playhouse will host four celebrated and diverse touring productions.

Unlimited Theatre, the Leeds theatre's resident company, presents its science fiction thriller, The Noise. Written by Claire Duffy, Jon Spooner and Chris Thorpe, the show has been created in collaboration with two leading neuroscientists to explore the relationship between sound and memory.

Improbable's award-winning artistic director Phelim McDermott joins forces with Mat Fraser, one of Britain's best-known disabled performers, and Julie Atlas Muz to present an adult musical retelling of classic fairytale, Beauty & the Beast, using shadow play and puppetry.

Sadler's Wells Associate Artist Jonzi D presents Lyrikal Fearta, a triple bill of shows. The programme comprises his acclaimed solo work, The Letter, a newly commissioned collaboration with Ivan Blackstock, Broken Lineage, and Blake Remixed, which blends British hip hop with the poetry of William Blake.

Fringe First winners The Paper Birds present their ten-year anniversary show, On the One Hand, which deals with the journey our minds and bodies undertake from birth to death. The show was originally commissioned by Northern Stage and awarded the theatre's Title Pending 2012 award for innovation.

These shows are being staged in the run-up to the Playhouse's Christmas programme, which includes The Jungle Bookand Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas.
