Theatre503 has announced its autumn to winter season.
Lisa Spirling, the new artistic director of Theatre503 will direct In Event of Moone Disaster (4 to 28 October), winner of the theatre’s International Playwriting Award 2016. The play, written by Andrew Thompson, covers 80 years of sexual politics through the story of three extraordinary women set against the backdrop of humanity’s journey to the stars.
The season will also include coming-of-age drama Sid and Viv by Philip Correia (30 August to 23 September) and the UK premiere of The Dark Room by Angela Betzien (8 November to 2 December), which won Best New Australian Work at the Sydney Theatre Awards.
Theatre503's Christmas show Scrooge and the Seven Dwarves from The Sleeping Trees (6 December to 6 January) is back for a second year.
The programme also includes short runs of new and emerging works, including Unbroken Festival (29 to 30 October) which presents artistic responses to World Mental Health Day and Sahar Speaks: Voices of Women from Afghanistan a series of short plays by Afghan female journalists, reflecting on their lives (15 and 16 October).
