Patricia Highsmith’s novel and the hit 2000 film are the source material for the new tour of the hit thriller
Exclusive: A stage adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley will tour the UK for the first time in 2025, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Patricia Highsmith’s novel.
The production opens at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham on 4 September, with an official press night scheduled for 10 September.
The novel, well known thanks to the hit 2000 film adaptation starring Matt Damon, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow, and more recently through a 2024 Netflix series with Andrew Scott, follows Tom Ripley, a man who becomes dangerously entangled in a mission involving a wealthy acquaintance from Italy.
The play is a Faction production, adapted and directed by Mark Leipacher. Producers Jack Maple and Thomas Hopkins are behind the tour, with design by Holly Piggott, lighting by Zeynep Kepekli, sound by Max Pappenheim and casting by Marc Frankum. Casting is yet to be announced.
