Producers have announced a six week West End run of the Tony Award-winning musical The Secret Garden, opening at the Ambassadors Theatre in August.

The production, which has been adapted to be performed by a rotating cast of 300 young people, will be directed by Rupert Hands, with choreography by Jamie Neale and musical direction from Richard Baker – the same team behind Annie Jr which ran at the Arts Theatre last year.

Based on Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1911 novel, about an orphan who returns to England from India to live with her uncle, the musical has a book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon.

Director Hands said: "I’m very much looking forward to working on this beautiful musical with such an exciting company of young actors. Giving young people the opportunity to work on great shows in great spaces is vital for the future of theatre."

The Secret Garden will run at the Ambassadors Theatre from 3 – 31 August 2016 alongside the Stomp schedule.
