The WhatsOnStage Award-winning production is back!

The cast for The Comedy About Spies’ return to the West End has been revealed.
The production, created by theatre company Mischief, will run at the Adelphi Theatre for eight weeks from 1 August to 26 September 2026. It previously had a 21-week run in the West End in 2025 where it won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play and received an Olivier Award nomination for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play. Performances were also filmed at the Noël Coward Theatre.
The comedy follows a rogue British agent who steals plans for a top-secret weapon, prompting CIA and KGB spies to converge on London’s Piccadilly Hotel in search of the file. A young couple, an actor hoping to play James Bond and a number of double agents become caught up in the situation.
The play is written by Henry Lewis and Henry Shields, and directed by Matt DiCarlo, with executive producer Jonathan Sayer. The creative team includes set designer David Farley, costume designer Deborah Andrews, movement director Shelley Maxwell, lighting designer Johanna Town and sound designer and composer Jon Fiber for Jollygoodtunes.
For this new run, original Mischief member Bryony Corrigan will play Elena Popova. She joins the original West End cast members David Hearn (as Lance Buchanan), Adele James (Rosemary Wilson), Chris Leask (Sergei Ivanov), Lewis (Douglas Woodbead), Shields (Bernard Wright), Greg Tannahill (Albert Tipton), Nancy Zamit (Janet Buchanan), Macadie Amoroso (ensemble/understudy), Adam Byron (ensemble/understudy), Matt Cavendish (ensemble/understudy), Allie Dart (ensemble/understudy), Niall Ransome (ensemble/understudy) and Ashley Tucker (ensemble/understudy).
Mischief also has The Play That Goes Wrong running in the West End and has launched its first musical, Thespians, with a short tour ending at HOME in July. Christmas Carol Goes Wrong is also scheduled to return with a new tour this autumn.
The Comedy About Spies is presented by Kenny Wax and Stage Presence in association with Jo Danvers.
