Tim Firth’s musical opened in Manchester last year
New dates and venues have been announced for the UK and Ireland tour of Take That musical The Band
Written by Tim Firth and featuring the music of boyband Take That, The Band tells the story of five 16 year-old friends in 1992, who idolise their favourite band. It then follows them to 25 years later where they are women trying to fulfil their dream of meeting their heroes.
Since its official opening in Manchester in September the show has been touring the UK and has now added the following dates: Cliffs Pavilion, Southend (19 to 29 September 2018), His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen (3 to 13 October 2018), Sheffield Lyceum Theatre (16 to 20 October 2018), New Wimbledon Theatre (23 to 27 October 2018), New Theatre, Oxford (30 October to 3 November 2018), Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Dublin (6 to 10 November), and Grand Opera House, Belfast (13 to 24 November 2018).
The tour will then continue into 2019 with dates at The Lowry, Salford (16 to 26 January 2019), Swansea Grand (29 January to 2 February 2019), Orchard Theatre, Dartford (5 to 9 February 2019), Regent Theatre, Ipswich (12 to 16 February 2019), New Victoria, Woking (19 to 23 February 2019), Wolverhampton Grand (26 February to 2 March), Milton Keynes Theatre (5 to 9 March 2019) and Mayflower Theatre, Southampton (12 to 16 March 2019.
Our review of the show praised Firth's 'nifty lines' and the 'classical quality and sheer exuberance' of Take That's music.
The Band tours the UK until March 2019.
