Suranne Jones opened in Bryony Lavery's Frozen at Theatre Royal Haymarket in the West End last night, as the play marks its 20th anniversary.

Directed by Jonathan Munby, Lavery's piece examines the criminal mind and its impact on those related to victims, following paedophile (Jason Watkins), who is caught after murdering the daughter of Nancy (Jones). Nina Sosanya plays a psychiatrist tasked with analysing Ralph.

Talking about the piece, Jones said that the subject matter "resonated with me deeply", though her husband refused to read it. Watkins also mentioned the fact that despite the piece is running at the 1000-seater Theatre Royal Haymarket, "you could do this play around a table and it'd still be brilliant".

Frozen runs at Theatre Royal Haymarket until 5 May.
