Ben Ockrent’s play opens at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre

Exclusive: Casting has been announced for the world premiere of Relics by Ben Ockrent at Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. The production, directed by Michael Longhurst, will run from 18 June to 18 July, with a press night on 24 June.
The cast will include Charly Clive, JJ Feild, Sally Phillips and Sam Swainsbury.
The new comedy follows four siblings reuniting at their recently deceased mother’s home to divide her belongings, only for a long-buried family secret to emerge. Liv attempts to restore order, Rob tries to keep the peace, Michelle questions the family dynamic and Jonny pushes everyone to breaking point.
Ockrent said: “It is the honour of my life that Relics will get to have its world premiere at the storied Lyric Hammersmith Theatre this summer. To have Michael Longhurst at the helm of this first production is additionally thrilling, and I am so looking forward to embarking on this journey with him.”
Longhurst added: “I’m excited to start rehearsing Ben Ockrent’s brilliant new play with this amazing group of actors. I think Ben has mined that primal, excruciatingly recognisable, tendency in us all to regress when forced to return to the family home.”
The creative team includes Joanna Scotcher as set and costume designer, Simisola Majekodunmi as lighting designer, Dan Balfour as sound designer, Anna Cooper CDG as casting director and Bret Yount as fight director.
