The world premiere of Zoe Lewis’ play will open at Wilton’s Music Hall in September
Initial casting has been announced for the world premiere of Zoe Lewis' new play Britten in Brooklyn, which will open at Wilton's Music Hall in September.
Sadie Frost, whose stage credits include Fool for Love and Lewis' one-woman play Touched, will star as Gypsy Rose Lee – the American burlesque entertainer whose memoir was made into the stage musical and film Gypsy.
Based on true events, the play takes place in New York City during World War II and examines the bohemian lifestyle of Lee, composer Benjamin Britten, poet WH Auden and novelist Carson McCullers.
On the location of the play, Frost said: "I am thrilled that the premiere of Zoe’s brilliant play is to be staged in Wilton’s Music Hall. It was always our first choice of venue and the stunningly restored theatre with its beautiful, faded bohemian elegance, will form an integral part of the production."
Further casting and creatives to be announced.
Directed by Oli Rose, Britten in Brooklyn will run at Wilton's Music Hall from 2 – 17 September.
