Justin Freer will conduct John Williams’ award-winning score
Fresh from the success of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, JK Rowling's boy wizard will make his Royal Albert Hall debut next year, when the London venue plays host to a new series of film concerts.
Fans of the franchise will be able to watch Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on a 40 foot screen accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performing John Williams’ iconic score.
The first event will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on 12 and 13 May 2017, before touring the UK and visiting Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Glasgow. Events featuring the other films are expected to follow.
Nominated for seven BAFTAs and three Oscars, including Best Original Score, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first of eight films based on the books of JK Rowling and sees a young Harry discover his true identity and begin life at Hogwarts.
The concert will be conducted by Justin Freer, who said: "The Harry Potter film series is one of those once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomena that continues to delight millions of fans around the world.
"It is with great pleasure that we present for the first time ever an opportunity to experience the award-winning music score played live by a symphony orchestra, while the beloved film is projected onto the big screen. It will be an unforgettable event."
The first Harry Potter Film Concert will premiere at the Royal Albert Hall on 12 to 13 May 2017. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 19 August.
