Highlights include a new production of ”The Glass Menagerie”
The Nuffield Theatre has announced its autumn/winter season, which runs from 19 August 2015 to 20 February 2016.
The season includes director and chief executive Samuel Hodges's new staging of Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie (9 to 31 October), with design by Ultz.
Hodges said: "I am thrilled that my Nuffield debut as a director will be the masterpiece The Glass Menagerie.
"It was radical and bold when it was first produced almost 70 years ago, a quality which it retains uniquely to this day, making it a perfect fit for the work we are creating at Nuffield."
Nuffield's second in-house production will be a Christmas staging of Merlin. A co-production with Royal & Derngate, Northampton, it's created by Ella Hickson and Olly Birch, with music by Rob Castell.
Directed by Liam Steel, the production will see Nuffield "transformed into the enchanted medieval court of King Arthur, telling the tale of Merlin and his raucous magical adventures".
The season also includes Caryl Churchill's A Number (19 to 29 August) and Juicy and Delicious, a Nuffield Laboratory production (12 to 13 November).
Guest productions include What the Ladybird Heard (18 to 19 September), Orpheus (29 September to 3 October), The Silver Sword (5 to 7 November) and an adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Witches (15 to 20 February).
Tickets for the autumn season are on sale now.
