New Donmar season includes Closer with Rufus Sewell and James Graham election play

Josie Rourke has today announced the Donmar Warehouse's Spring 2015 season, which sees the previously rumoured revival of Patrick Marber's Closer, a new play "for theatre and television" by James Graham and a world premiere about the Occupy London movement by Steve Waters starring Simon Russell Beale.

The first in the season will be Closer directed by David Leveaux, running from 12 February to 4 April 2015.

Patrick Marber's modern classic, set in London, centres on the tangled relationships between two couples, and stars Nancy Carroll, Rufus Sewell, Oliver Chris and Rachel Redford.

Next in the season will be a new play by James Graham, running for two weeks up to the General Election next year, which will culminate in a live television broadcast in partnership with Channel 4 on 7 May 2015.

The show will explore "one of the great British traditions", looking into what people feel about the value of casting their vote, and will have a cast of almost 50 actors. It will be directed by Josie Rourke, who at this morning's press launch for the season explained how she would "love to see more theatre on television".

The final production in the season will be a new play by Steve Waters about the Occupy London movement. Called Temple, it will run from 21 May to 25 July 2015, and will star Simon Russell Beale as the Dean.

Rourke also announced that the current production of Henry IV playing at the venue will transfer to Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets for a week, with the aim of reaching out to the community.
