New Bodyguard star Beverley Knight, who starts performances at the Adelphi Theatre on 9 September, has recorded a ‘sneak peek’ version of Whitney Houston hit “Queen of the Night”.

Knight will be making her West End debut as Rachel Marron, the role created on stage by Heather Headley in the WhatsOnStage Award-winning musical.

Headley made her last performance on Saturday (10 August). Her understudy Gloria Onitiri is now playing the role until Knight takes over.

Lloyd Owen continues in the role of Frank Farmer (created on screen by Kevin Costner), with Casualty actor Tristan Gemmill taking over at the same time as Knight.

Directed by Thea Sharrock, The Bodyguard is adapted from the hit 1992 film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner and features classic Whitney songs including “One Moment in Time”, “Saving All My Love”, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and “I Will Always Love You”.

The Bodyguard won Best Musical at this year’s WhatsOnStage Awards.

Having sold over a million albums in the UK, Beverley Knight’s hits include “Shoulda Woulda Coulda”, “Keep This Fire Burning”, “Piece of My Heart”, “Gold” and “Greatest Day”.
