The BBC has revealed more details for this weekend’s Coronation Concert, as well as a first look at the mammoth stage for the event.

Taking place on the grounds of Windsor Castle, the event will see 20,000 punters celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

Claire Popplewell, creative director for BBC Studios Events Productions said: “We think we’ve come up with a stage which is fitting for an event of such historical and national importance. It gives us the perfect base to stage a really wonderful celebration and I hope those either lucky enough to attend in person or the viewers watching from home have a great night and enjoy the party. The live audience will play an important role in the show as well. We hope His Majesty likes it. It’s in his back garden!”

As part of the evening, the Royal Ballet, the Royal Opera, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal College of Music and the Royal College of Art will come together for the first time ever to create a one-off performance during the evening.

WhatsOnStage and Olivier Award nominee Mei Mac (My Neighbour Totoro) is amongst those set to appear during the performance, alongside Doctor Who and Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa, who previously starred in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Shakespeare’s Globe.

The stage itself will feature multiple levels for the 70-piece orchestra, as well as video appearances from Tom Cruise, Joan Collins, Bear Grylls and Tom Jones.
