Natalia Osipova leads new Sadler's Wells season

Sadler's Wells has announced it's Spring/Summer 2016 season, with highlights including:

• Royal Ballet star Natalia Osipova in a specially commissioned programme
• Michael Hulls, Nitin Sawhney and Lucy Carter in an immersive multi-sensory production titled No Body
• Dancers and horses perform on stage in a UK premiere by acclaimed French artist Bartabas
• English National Ballet celebrates the work of three outstanding female choreographers in a triple bill
• UK premiere's from Crystal Pite and contemporary circus company The 7 Fingers

Headlining the season, which runs from January to July 2016, is Russian ballet star Natalia Osipova. Acclaimed contemporary choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Russell Maliphant and Arthur Pita have created work inspired by Osipova, the first time a programme has been commissioned for the dancer. (29 June to 2 July)

The season kicks off with the London International Mime Festival (9 Jan – 6 Feb), including performances from Jakop Ahlbom Company and Family Floez, and flamenco takes over Sadler’s Wells in February with the Flamenco Festival London (16 – 28 Feb), including a new show by Sara Baras.

Multi-installation work, No Body, brings together 'the essential elements of performance without the physical presence of dancers', from 7 – 12 June. The work will explore lighting, sound and projection and feature specially commissioned works by lighting designers Michael Hulls and Lucy Carter, and composer Nitin Sawhney.

Horses will take to the Sadler's Wells stage alongside contemporary flamenco dancer Andrés Marín, in the UK premiere of French artist Bartabas' Golgota from 14 – 21 March.

Other highlights include work by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker titled Golden Hours (As You Like It), loosely structured around Shakespeare’s As You Like It; Olivier Award-winning Crystal Pite presents the UK premiere of Betroffenheit, created with Jonathon Young (31 May & 1 June); and The 7 Fingers presents TRIPTYQUE, a triple bill of dance and circus in collaboration with some of the world’s most cutting-edge contemporary choreographers. (1 & 2 April).

BalletBoyz also returns with the world premiere of Life, featuring new commissions by Pontus Lidberg and Javier de Frutos (24 – 28 April). Alexander Whitley and digital artist Memo Atken join forces to combine dance and motion-responsive technology in new work Pattern Recognition (7 & 8 April).

English National Ballet celebrates the work of three outstanding female choreographers in a triple bill featuring world premieres by Aszure Barton, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Yabin Wang (13 – 16 April).

balletLORENT presents a mystical adaptation of Snow White, retold by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and directed and choreographed by Liv Lorent (25 – 26 March).

Sadler’s Wells’ ground-breaking festival of hip hop dance theatre and culture, Breakin’ Convention, returns for its 13th year (30 April & 1 May). Curated by Jonzi D, the programme includes champion b-boy crew The Ruggeds (The Netherlands), experimental b-boy Iron Skulls (Spain) and leading street dancer Antoinette Gomis (France).
