Harry Potter and the Cursed Child had its first preview last night and we were down at the Palace Theatre to chat with the excited/nervous/giddy fans that were first in the queue.

Audience members had travelled from all over the globe to see the play, with some guests flying in especially from the USA, Canada and Singapore.

One couple told us they had flown from Florida to see the production for their honeymoon, having wed on Saturday in a Harry Potter themed wedding.

Written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany, the latest instalment of JK Rowling's franchise follows the trials of Harry Potter who works in the Ministry of Magic with a wife and three kids nineteen years later. His youngest son, Albus, is struggling with his family legacy. The show synopsis continues: "Both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens at the Palace Theatre on Saturday 30 July.

Head to our dedicated Harry Potter page for everything you need to know about the show.
