The “intimate” show, which toured last year featuring Mead and Ramin Karimloo, promises “to take you on a journey to the very heart of the West End and its leading men”.
Directed by Mitch Sebastian (The Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas, Pippin), it includes songs from the West End, Broadway and beyond, backed by a full live band and choir.
Lee Mead rose to fame after winning the BBC casting series Any Dream Will Do, which led to him playing the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the West End’s Adelphi Theatre from July 2007 to June 2008. Since then he has also appeared in the West End in musicals Wicked and Legally Blonde.
After appearing as one of Martine McCutcheon’s understudies in My Fair Lady, Kerry Ellis’ breakthrough role came in 2002 when she played Meat in the premiere of Queen musical We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre. Her subsequent credits include Wicked (for which she won the 2008 Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Takeover in a Role), Oliver! and, currently, Rent in Concert.
The West End Men is
produced by Milton Morrissey Ltd, Jason Haigh Ellery and in association
with Paul Tyrer & Jamie Clark for The Booking Office.
Further casting for the show, which precedes The Ladykillers at the Vaudeville, will be announced shortly.
