Lawyer Sophie Khan to speak at London Writers' Week Grenfell Tower benefit

Lawyer Sophie Khan is to appear in a newly announced session as part of London Writers' Week.

Last week it was announced that London Writers' Week would relocate to the Tabernacle and run in support of the victims of the Grenfell Tower.

Khan, who represented victims of the Lakanal House fire and has called for an inquest to the Grenfell Tower fire, will speak on how writers can use their skillset to help victims and the importance of words in legal terms.

A second event has also been announced in which Australian Academy award nominee David Evan Giles – whose nephew was born in Grenfell Tower – will speak on how writers can help with campaigning and beyond.

All profits from London Writers' Week will now go towards the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire and a new donation ticket has been announced, for those unable to attend the week in person. Those buying donation tickets will receive top tips – including from novelist Kate Mosse – from the week via email.

Other writers joining London Writers' Week include BAFTA nominated writer and director Gabriel Bisset-Smith, screenwriter Michael Robert Johnson whose credits include Sherlock Holmes, directed by Guy Ritchie.
