A brand new cast add some much needed sparkle to the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical.
On a seemingly never ending national tour, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat has a new cast that give this production some much needed sparkle.
Over The Rainbow's Danielle Hope narrates the story; she seems young in the role but is a strong enough performer to carry the plot from scene to scene with the help, of course, of Tim Rice's clever storytelling lyrics.
Lloyd Daniels gives Joseph a Welsh edge and makes a promising musical theatre debut. His matured voice is a distant memory from his X Factor days and is particularly strong during Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door; an impressive Joseph.
The production doesn't take its self too seriously; the blow up sheep and cardboard cut out camels are received with a welcome laugh from the audience. It'd be nice to see a more serious angle and direction to the story of the coat of many colours but this cast do breathe some life back into this somewhat tired show.
