Malkovich will make his London directorial debut with ”Good Canary”
The Rose Theatre Kingston has today announced three major productions for 2016, including the UK première of Zach Helm's Good Canary which sees John Malkovich make his London directorial debut.
Set in New York, Good Canary follows a novelist on the verge of signing a multi-million-dollar deal with a leading publisher, whilst his wife struggles with addiction and mental illness. Following sell-out performances in Mexico City and Paris, it runs at the Rose Theatre from 16 September – 8 October.
Malkovich said: "I’m delighted to be working at the Rose and very pleased to be working again on the Good Canary, and to be finally working on the play in its native language."
Following his recent production of The Wars of the Roses, Trevor Nunn will return to the Rose to open the season with William Shakespeare’s King John from 13 May – 5 June.
Completing the season Michael Rudman will direct Arthur Miller’s All My Sons from 28 October – 19 November, the first Miller play to be produced at the Rose.
