Jesus Christ Superstar Athens show cancelled due to 'economic uncertainty'

The production was due to form part of the Athens & Epidaurus Festival next month

A production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar at the Odeon Of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Greece, has been cancelled due to the current economic crisis gripping the country.

The production starring reality show winner Ben Forster in the titular role and featuring a cast of British talent including Tim Prottey-Jones and Niall Sheehy, was due to form part of the Athens & Epidaurus Festival on July 3 and 4.

Ticket holders are advised to contact their point of sale.

Some of the cast have taken to twitter to express their disappointment at the cancellation of the show, which also had a 10 week US tour cancelled last year:
