Hattie Morahan will star in Dominic Dromgoole's forthcoming production of The Changeling, which opens in the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on 20 January 2015 (previews from 15 January).

Morahan, who plays Beatrice-Joanna, recently won multiple awards for her performance as Nora in Carrie Cracknell's production of Ibsen's A Doll’s House at the Young Vic, which transferred to the West End and New York.

According to press material, Beatrice-Joanna "is the axis around which Middleton and Rowley’s gleefully gruesome tragedy spins".

Betrothed to Alonzo but in love with Alsemero, Beatrice-Joanna enters a bloody pact with De Flores, who agrees to murder her fiancé – but then demands her virginity in recompense. When Alsemero begins to question his beloved’s chastity, she concocts a byzantine scheme to avoid detection that ultimately undoes her.

The Changeling continues until 1 March 2015. Further casting is still to be announced.
