Anna-Jane Casey and Laura Pitt-Pulford will star in Daniel Evans’ final production at the Crucible
Full casting has been announced for the world premiere of Richard Taylor and Rachel Wagstaff's Flowers for Mrs Harris, which opens at the Crucible, Sheffield in May.
Directed by outgoing artistic director Daniel Evans – his final production at the Crucible – Flowers for Mrs Harris will star Moyo Akandé (Thoroughly Modern Millie, White Christmas), Clare Burt (This is My Family, London Road), Anna-Jane Casey (Mack & Mabel, Forbidden Broadway), Rebecca Caine (Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera), Luke Dale (The Lover's Melancholy), David Durham (Jesus Christ Superstar, The Lion King), Louis Maskell (My Fair Lady, West Side Story), Mark Meadows (High Society, Urinetown), Laura Pitt-Pulford (The Sound of Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) and Nicola Sloane (My Fair Lady, London Road).
Based on the novel by Paul Gallico, Flowers for Mrs Harris is a new musical set in 1940s London. It follows Mrs Harris, a cleaner who wants for nothing until she happens upon a Christian Dior dress.
It has design by Lez Brotherston, musical direction from Tom Brady, lighting by Mark Henderson and movement from Kay Shepherd.
Flowers for Mrs Harris runs at the Crucible, Sheffield from 18 May – 4 June 2016.
