Yaël Farber directs Shakespeare’s tragedy
The Almeida Theatre has unveiled the full cast for Yaël Farber’s upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s King Lear, joining previously announced Danny Sapani (Hymn).
The cast includes Hugo Bolton as Oswald, Oliver Cudbill as Duke of Burgundy and Curan, Edward Davis as the Duke of Cornwall, WhatsOnStage Award winner Fra Fee as Edmund, Michael Gould as Earl of Gloucester, WhatsOnStage Award winner Akiya Henry as Goneril, Geoffrey Lumb as the Duke of Albany, Alec Newman as the Earl of Kent, Gloria Obianyo as Cordelia, Faith Omole as Regan, Clarke Peters as the Fool, Steffan Rizzi as the Knight and Captain, and Matthew Tennyson as Edgar.
Following her WhatsOnStage Award-nominated work on The Tragedy of Macbeth (with Saoirse Ronan and James McArdle), Yaël Farber will return to the north London venue with the new production, which is set to open on 8 February.
The creative team includes Merle Hensel (set designer), Camilla Dely (costume designer), Lee Curran (lighting designer), Peter Rice (sound designer), Max Perryment (composer), Imogen Knight (movement director), Kate Waters (fight director), and Julia Horan CDG (casting director).
