Joe Hill-Gibbins' new production of Measure for Measure opens tonight at the Young Vic. Star of new film Suffragette and TV series The Hour Romola Garai leads the cast.

Hill-Gibbins is an artistic associate of the Young Vic and has become known for creating radical re-inventions of classics. His production of Edward II at the National Theatre was a contemporary take on Marlowe's play, which was dubbed "not for purists" by WhatsOnStage when it opened in 2013, but "engaging and robust" nonetheless.

Measure for Measure is one of Shakespeare's dark comedies set in Vienna, which follows the puritan Angelo, who tries to rid the city of of its loose morals.

Garai stars alongside Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter in her most recent film Suffragette which opens on 12 October.
