First look at the UK tour of Hairspray
Production images have been released of the new tour of Hairspray, opening at the Wales Millenium Centre.
The production stars Matt Rixon as Edna Turnblad alongside Rebecca Mendoza making her professional debut as Tracy Turnblad. Norman Pace stars as Wilbur Turnblad and Brenda Edwards as Motormouth Maybelle.
The show is choreographed by Drew McOnie and directed by Paul Kerryson.
Hairspray has music and lyrics from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan and is based on the 1988 film of the same name, which originally starred Ricki Lake and Divine.
It tells the story of teenager Tracy Turnblad who dreams of being the star of a TV dance show. Songs in the musical are "Good Morning Baltimore" and "Big, Blonde and Beautiful".
Hairspray run at the Wales Millenium Centre until 26 August and then tours the UK until June 2018.
