The Oscar-winning actor will star as Scrooge in this adaptation of Dickens’ classic festive tale
Images have been released offering a first glimpse at the cast of A Christmas Carol in preparation for the show's run in the West End next month.
Oscar winning actor Jim Broadbent stars as Scrooge in this adaptation of Dickens' classic festive story. Directed by Olivier award-winner Phelim McDermott, the production runs at the Noel Coward Theatre from 9 December to 30 January (previews from 30 November).
According to press material:
From Scrooge and Tiny Tim to Bob Cratchit and Mrs Fezziwig, Patrick Barlow's imaginative adaptation of A Christmas Carol will bring some of Dickens' most memorable characters to life at the Noël Coward Theatre this winter.
Broadbent and Barlow performed together for many years in Barlow's cult comedy troupe The National Theatre of Brent. Broadbent has since found international fame through films including Moulin Rouge (for which he won a BAFTA), Iris (Oscar for Best Supporting Actor) and the Harry Potter series. He previously worked with Phelim McDermott on Theatre of Blood at the National Theatre.
A Christmas Carol and The Mackintosh Foundation will support St Martin-in-the-Fields' Christmas Appeal by donating 50p for each ticket purchased. Customers, as part of the purchasing process, will be asked if they would also like to donate 50p with each ticket purchased.
