Father Ted musical adaptation in the works
The show’s creator Graham Linehan has confirmed plans for Pope Ted

Graham Linehan, co-creator of Father Ted, has confirmed that a musical adaptation of the '90s TV show is in the works.
Speaking on Twitter, Linehan said: "Pope Ted – The Father Ted Musical written by Arthur Mathews and myself, music by Neil Hannon, is almost written."

Linehan (IT Crowd, Black Books) went on to say it would be 'the real final episode of Father Ted'. The sitcom, which ran from 1995 to 1998, starred Dermot Morgan, Ardal O'Hanlon and Pauline McLynn, and followed Irish parish priest Father Ted Crilly (Morgan) and spawned the catchphrase
With music by Hannon – who wrote the show's theme tune and is best known for his work with Divine Comedy – the musical will see Ted move from Craggy Island to the Vatican to become Pope.
Linehan is no stranger to theatre having penned the stage adaptation of Ealing comedy The Ladykillers, which ran in the West End in 2011.
