Luke Sheppard directs the new production at Hope Mill Theatre
Ahead of the show's opening, we popped into rehearsals for an exclusive listen to the cast of the new revival of Spring Awakening.
Directed by Luke Sheppard (In the Heights) the production opens at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester this month.
Winner of eight Tony Awards and four Olivier Awards, Spring Awakening follows a group of teenagers in late 19th century Germany, coming to terms with their own sexuality. It is based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 play of the same name and has book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik.
The production has design by Gabriella Slade, musical direction by Gareth Bretherton, choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves, lighting by Nic Farman, sound by Leigh Davies and casting by Verity Naughton.
Spring Awakening runs at the Hope Mill Theatre from 3 April to 3 May.
