Emma Rice Company has announced a three-year partnership with Theatre Royal Bath, titled The Director’s Cut, which will see a series of Rice’s landmark productions revived and staged in Bath before touring the UK.

The season begins in May 2026 with Malory Towers, followed by Tristan and Yseult in September 2026. Further productions will be revealed as part of the partnership in future years.

Danny Moar, director of Theatre Royal Bath, said: “It is an enormous privilege for Theatre Royal Bath and its audiences to collaborate with the Emma Rice Company in this way. We look forward to two great productions opening with us in 2026 with more to come in the years ahead.”

The productions will also form part of the company’s “slow tour” network, which takes a more sustainable approach to touring that was developed in response to the pandemic. Alongside Theatre Royal Bath, the network now includes York Theatre Royal, HOME Manchester, Belgrade Theatre, The Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, Nottingham Playhouse and Theatre Royal Plymouth.

Following its Bath run, Malory Towers will embark on a ten-venue tour, supported by Arts Council England’s pilot scheme Incentivising Touring: Repayable Grants for Theatre and Dance, which awarded over £2 million to its first round of recipients.

The news comes as Rice rechristens her current company Wise Children.
