Oh, Mary! to be filmed in the West End

Performances of the Olivier Award-winning play Oh, Mary! will be filmed at the Trafalgar Theatre.

A historically dubious wartime comedy, the piece revolves around bored alcoholic housewife Mary Todd Lincoln, who pines for the cabaret stage but is constantly undermined by her closeted, homosexual husband, who also just happens to be the President of the United States.

Cole Escola’s riotous crowd-pleaser, hailed as “80 minutes of perfectly judged silliness” by WhatsOnStage’s Sarah Crompton in her glowing review, picked up an Olivier Award for Best New Entertainment.

Performances on 28 July 2026 will be filmed, with Escola reprising their Tony Award-winning performance as Mary Todd Lincoln. Tickets go on sale today.

Escola will be joined on stage by a variety of Oh, Mary! alumni from New York and London. Giles Terera, who earned an Olivier Award nomination for the role, returns as Mary’s Husband, alongside two-time Emmy Award nominee Michael Urie as Mary’s Teacher, and original Oh, Mary! cast members Bianca Leigh and Tony Macht as Mary’s Chaperone and Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, respectively.

The filmed performances will be directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, with release plans yet to be confirmed.

The West End cast has also revealed casting for the summer season.

In London, the Oh, Mary! creative team also includes scenic designer dots, costume designer Holly Pierson, lighting designer Cha See, sound designer and composer Daniel Kluger, sound designer Drew Levy, wig designer Leah J Loukas, props supervisor Addison Heeren, and arranger David Dabbon. Casting is by Stuart Burt and US casting is by Henry Russell Bergstein. The producers are Kevin McCollum and Lucas McMahon, and Mike Lavoie and Carlee Briglia .
