David Moorst to star in First Light in Chichester

Phil Davis, Tom Gill and David Moorst will lead the cast in the premiere of Mark Hayhurst’s new play First Light, which opens at Chichester Festival Theatre in June.

Tom Gill, who takes the role of Albert Ingham, has stage credits including Dunsinane (RSC), Buckets (Orange Tree) and Lines (The Yard) whilst David Moorst, who takes the role of Alfred Longshaw, has credits including Wonderland (Hampstead Theatre) and Violence and Son (Royal Court), for which he won the 2015 Evening Standard Emerging Talent Award.

Davis' credits include Quadrophenia, Sherlock, and Poldark and he has previously appeared in Pygamalion at Chichester.

The cast will be completed by Amelda Brown, Philip Cumbus, Alex Jordan, Niall McNamee, Sam Phillips, Tim Preston, Kelly Price, Ed Sayer, Freddie Watkins, Andrew Westfield and Andrew Woodall.

Hayhurst's play is staged in the centenary year of the Battle of the Somme, and exposes the impact of the First World War on soldiers and their families.

Jonathan Munby directs the production with design by Paul Wills, lighting by Tim Mitchell, music by Alex Baranowski, sound by Fergus O'Hare and movement by Danny McGrath.

First Light will run at Chichester Festival Theatre from 16 June to 2 July.
