Leicester Curve chief executive Fiona Allan will step down later this year to join Birmingham Hippodrome in the same role.

Allan, who joined Curve in 2011, said: "I am sorry to be leaving Leicester and my brilliant Curve team, but will leave knowing that the business is in terrific shape and that Nikolai Foster has exciting plans for its artistic development."

During her tenure at Leicester she helped oversee an expansion of the venue's musical theatre programme and launched the Inside Out Festival of new work.

Curve chair Philip Tasker said: "We're very sorry to see Fiona leave Curve – she has been absolutely pivotal in putting Curve at the forefront of regional theatre."

Allan, who was previously artistic director at Wales Millennium Centre, will remain at Curve until October.
