A new Dusty Springfield musical, Son of a Preacher Man, will embark on a UK tour this September.

Directed by Craig Revel Horwood, the musical features Springfield's music and has a book by Warner Brown. It is about three strangers who find themselves drawn to the site of an old '60s Soho Bar, The Preacher Man.

It will feature songs including "The Look Of Love", "I Only Want To Be With You","Spooky" and the title track.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Maria Friedman would be directing Dusty, a new musical about the life of the singer, due to open in 2018.

In 2015, a different production, also called Dusty, ran at the Charing Cross Theatre, but had a difficult time in the West End. Producers were forced to push the official press night back for three months, losing nine cast members in the process.

Son of a Preacher Man will open in Bromley on 4 September before touring to Birmingham, Sunderland, Manchester, York, Stoke, Edinburgh, Oxford, Tunbridge Wells, Hull, Wimbledon, Belfast and High Wycomde. Further dates and casting are to be announced.
