Full casting has been announced for the world premiere of Matthew Bourne's production of The Red Shoes, which begins a UK tour at the Theatre Royal Plymouth in November.

The role of Victoria Page will be shared by Ashley Shaw, Cordelia Braithwaite and Katrina Lyndon; all recently seen in Bourne's production of Sleeping Beauty.

They will be joined by Sam Archer (Edward Scissorhands) and Chris Trenfield (Swan Lake) as Boris Lermentov. Trenfield will also share the role of Julian Kraster with Dominic North (Edward Scissorhands) and Andrew Monaghan (The Car Man).

Liam Mower (Billy Elliot) will return for his seventh principal role with New Adventures to play Ivan Boleslawsky alongside Danny Reubens (Lord of the Flies)

The principal cast also includes Anjali Mehra (Swan Lake), Nicole Kabera (Sleeping Beauty) and Michela Meazza (Dorian Gray) as Irina Boronskya.

Completing the cast is Glenn Graham, Leon Moran, Steph Billers, Will Bozier, Joshua Harriette, Jack Jones, Daisy May Kemp, Phil King, Dominic Lamb, Kate Lyons, Joe Walkling, Katie Webb and Seren Williams.

The show, which is based on the award-winning film by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger and the Hans Christian Andersen fairy-tale, centres around Victoria Page, a dancer who is torn between her ambition to dance and her desire to love.

The adaptation will feature a new score arranged by New Adventures associate artist, Terry Davies, using the music of Hollywood composer Bernard Herrmann and performed live at the first three venues of the tour.

Matthew Bourne's The Red Shoes runs at the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 21 to 26 November, then at Sadler’s Wells from 6 December 2016 to 29 January 2017.
