Three chart-toppers will make their West End debuts in Jeff Wayne’s musical version of HG Wells’ 1898 novel
Producers have announced casting for Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds which opens for a limited run at the Dominion Theatre next month.
Auf Wiedersehen, Pet star Jimmy Nail will make his West End debut as Parson Nathaniel. He will be joined by popstar Daniel Bedingfield and Sugababes singer Heidi Range, who also make their West End debuts as The Artilleryman and Beth.
Further casting includes Michael Praed (Dynasty) as George Herbert, Madalena Alberto (Evita) as Carrie and David Essex as The Voice of Humanity. Liam Neeson will make an onscreen appearance as The Journalist.
The new production, produced by Bill Kenwright, features the iconic score played live on stage by Wayne and his Black Smoke Band alongside ULLAdubULLA string orchestra.
Released in 1978, Wayne’s original double album has sold over 15 million copies sold and won two Ivor Novello Awards. You can read our interview with the composer here.
