Tom Brooke will lead the cast of Dennis Kelly‘s new play The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas at the Royal Court from 5 September to 19 October.
Brooke, who played Lee in Jerusalem at the Royal Court and in the West End, will play the title role in Kelly’s Royal Court Theatre debut production.
He’ll be joined by Pippa Haywood (Wanderlust), Joshua James (No Quarter), Jonathan McGuiness (Metamorphosis), Aaron Monaghan (The Cripple of Inishmaan), Kate O’Flynn (Port) and Alan Williams (War Horse).
The Ritual Slaughter of Gorge Mastromas is a dark morality tale, following Gorge as he invents three golden rules for success, whatever the cost.
The production, helmed by Royal Court artistic director Vicky Featherstone, will run in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs.
Casting has also been announced for Theatre503’s forthcoming premiere of Chris Urch’s Land of Our Fathers.
Set during Thatcher’s Britain and directed by Theatre503’s artistic director Paul Robinson, the production will run between 18 September and 12 October 2013.
A “darkly comic drama” looking at the dramatic two weeks of a group of Welsh miners who are trapped underground, the play stars stage veteran Clive Merrison (The History Boys) as Bomber, and Taylor Jay-Davies, recently seen in the West End production of Great Expectations, as Dai.
It also features Patrick Brennan (Chopper), Joshua Price (Mostyn), Paul Prescott (Hovis) and Kyle Rees (Curly).
