Broadway star Anna Zavelson to join The Phantom of the Opera

Anna Zavelson will play Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty’s Theatre, beginning later this month.

She will appear alongside Dean Chisnall as The Phantom, Ashley Gilmour as Raoul, Joanna Ampil as Carlotta Giudicelli, Martin Ball as Monsieur Firmin, Adam Linstead as Monsieur André, Helen Hobson as Madame Giry, Bradyn Debysingh as Ubaldo Piangi and Millie Lyon as Meg Giry. At certain performances, the role of Christine Daaé will be played by Colleen Rose Curran.

Zavelson will appear for a limited 11-week engagement from Monday 18 May 2026 to Saturday 1 August 2026.

The cast is completed by George Arvidson, Michael Baxter, Embla Bishop, David Burilin, Polly Clarke, Leonard Cook, Hywel Dowsell, Connor Ewing, Florence Fowler, James Gant, Emily George, Melanie Gowie, Molly Hall, Eilish Harmon-Beglan, Will Hawksworth, Matt Hayden, Nicholas Hepher, Mandy Kwan, Verity Marlow, Tim Morgan, Inguna Morozova, Skye November, Taylor Pardell, Johnny Randall, Zoë Soleil Vallée, Rachel Spurrell, Jasmine Wallis, Victoria Ward and Ralph Watts.

The production continues its run as it enters its 40th year in the West End, having first opened in 1986, and remains one of the longest-running and most widely seen musicals in the world, with an estimated 160 million audience members across 217 cities in 52 territories and 23 languages.

The score by Andrew Lloyd Webber includes “The Music of the Night”, “All I Ask of You”, “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again”, “Masquerade” and the title song.

Based on the novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, the musical tells the story of Christine Daaé, a young soprano who becomes the protégée of a mysterious masked figure known as the Phantom, a brilliant but troubled composer living beneath the Paris Opera House.

The production is produced by Cameron Mackintosh, with music by Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, and a book by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber. It features orchestrations by David Cullen and Lloyd Webber, musical supervision by Simon Lee, design by Maria Björnson with sets adapted by Matt Kinley, associate costume design by Jill Parker, lighting by Andrew Bridge with associate lighting by Warren Letton, sound by Mick Potter, and musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, recreated and adapted by Chrissie Cartwright. Originally directed by Harold Prince, this production is directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn.

The Phantom of the Opera is presented by Cameron Mackintosh and LW Entertainment, with Zavelson appearing with the support of Equity UK, incorporating the Variety Artistes’ Federation, as part of an exchange programme between American Equity and Equity UK.
