Bradley Walsh to host West End fundraiser for Denville Hall

Elstree Studios and Denville Hall will join forces for Raise the Roof!, a fundraiser marking the centenary of both institutions, at the Victoria Palace Theatre on 1 November.

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the evening will bring together performers and figures from film, television, theatre and music in support of Denville Hall’s Centenary Appeal. Further participants are due to be announced.

Denville Hall opened on 19 July 1926 as a home for retired actors and actresses and is now open to people across the entertainment professions. It provides care including specialist dementia care, with residents able to remain connected to the performing arts.

Elstree Studios is also celebrating its centenary this year. The studio has been a production base for generations of actors, directors, writers, producers, technicians and craftspeople working across film and television.

Funds raised by Raise the Roof! will contribute to Denville Hall’s £26 million Centenary Appeal. The project aims to build two new assisted living buildings in the grounds, alongside new facilities including a café, restaurant, cinema, rehabilitation and yoga studio, and gym. The gardens will also be relandscaped to provide wheelchair access.

The appeal aims to raise £13 million for the new buildings and a further £13 million for Alfred’s Fund, an endowment named after Denville Hall founder Alfred Denville, intended to support the organisation’s running costs over the next 100 years.

The Presidents of the Centenary Appeal are Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen and Daniel Radcliffe.

Bradley Walsh said: “What makes this really special is that we’re celebrating together. Elstree has given us so many unforgettable moments, and Denville has been there for the people who created them. I’m delighted to be hosting what should be a brilliant night for a brilliant cause.”

Tickets for Raise the Roof! are priced from £35 and are on sale now.
