Boswell’s Autumn Line-Up at the Ustinov

This Autumn 2012, the Ustinov Studio hosts its third season of new commissions and UK premieres, under the banner of ‘The Transformation Season, and the tight stewardship of artistic director Laurence Boswell.

Building on his hugely successful spring season, Boswell has announced another top notch programme, all UK premieres, which kicks off with Julian Mitchell’s The Welsh Boy, billed as a ‘lusty 18th century tale of youthful passion’. Set in Ross-on-Wye and Bath, the play brings to the stage a hidden gem of eighteenth-century literature, itself based on a true story of passionate love and scandal in a sleepy provincial town.

The second play, deadkidsongs, is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed contemporary novel by Toby Litt. A black comedy, which received rave reviews when it was first published in 2001, is now brought to the stage for the first time ever in a fast-paced, macabre, highly imaginative piece of theatre.

Finally, Dostoevsky’s classic novella, The Double, about the nightmare of meeting your own badly-behaved double, is directed by Laurence Boswell, and promises to be filled with special effects and accompanied by nineteenth century music and dance.
