Producer Bill Kenwright has today announced that he will stage a new production of Ghost – The Musical this autumn.

Based on the 1990 Oscar-winning film starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, Ghost has a book by Bruce Joel Rubin and score by Dave Stewart and Glenn Ballad.

The show – which includes original music as well as the iconic song "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brother's – premiered at the Manchester Opera House in 2011 before transferring to the West End.

Talking about the new production Bruce Joel Rubin said that he was "very excited by the potential that the new version holds and elated that it will be launched in the US at The Fulton Theatre, then tour the UK with Bill Kenwright".

The creative team and casting is yet to be announced.

The production tours the UK from 29 August, opening at the New Theatre Wimbledon.
