6 July 2009

The east London fringe venue Arcola Theatre has announced a summer season of dance and physical theatre for its new small-scale space Studio K.

Some 40 shows over four weeks begin on 6 July as part of Create09, the Olympic host borough Cultural Olympiad festival. The work is mostly from emerging artists.

Arcola artistic director Mehmet Ergen describes the season as exploring everything from our inner emotional landscapes to ex-communist cultural heritage, and sacrifice and sex to magic, space and flesh. Ergen says: “I have been intrigued by the possibilities of this building since the day we opened Arcola, it is very exciting to finally have my hands on it!”
