Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap announces producer change

Adam Spiegel is to take over as producer of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, currently the world's longest running show.

Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen has been the play's producer since 1994 and has handed over responsibility for management of the show to Spiegel.

Waley-Cohen will continue to be involved in The Mousetrap as director of the company, while Andrew Mills and Denise Silvey will continue in their roles as general manager and production supervisor respectively.

Waley-Cohen said: "Having worked closely with Adam on a variety of productions over many years, including his management of the hugely successful 60th anniversary tour of The Mousetrap, I am delighted that this will now cover The Mousetrap in London too. I hand on management to Adam with great confidence in the show’s very long-term future."

Spiegel said: "I am excited to become a custodian of this thrilling and historic production of The Mousetrap. I fully intend that any changes will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary, and look forward to playing my part in the record-breaking history of The Mousetrap."

The Mousetrap is now in its 66th year and currently running at St Martin's Theatre. The show originally opened in 1952 and the original West End cast included Richard Attenborough and Sheila Sim. The play is a classic Christie whodunit, set in a rural guest house where the guests are all snowed in.
