Caroline Sheen will step in to cover Louise Redknapp in the West End production of 9 to 5 the Musical, it has been announced.

Redknapp was forced to drop out of the show last week after cutting her chin and fracturing her wrist, and will rejoin the production once she has recovered.

Sheen, who will play Violet Newstead in the show until the end of March, has previous credits including Les Misérables, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Witches of Eastwick and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

She will join Amber Davies, Natalie McQueen and Bonnie Langford in the hit musical until Redknapp recovers, with Redknapp then performing in the show until it closes in August.

9 to 5 the Musical, which has music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, runs at the Savoy Theatre from 28 January to 31 August and is based on the hit film which tells the story of three workmates who decide to take revenge on their sexist boss.

The show's choreography is by Lisa Stevens, design is from Tom Rogers, lighting design by Howard Hudson, musical supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Mark Crossland, musical direction by Andrew Hilton and casting by Victoria Roe.
