Spring Awakening Set for Salford, 15 April

Manchester based theatre company Assembled Junk are bringing the hit musical Spring Awakening to Salford's King's Arms next month.

The show is a rock musical based on German writer Frank Wedekind’s novel about the sexual awakening of a repressed and misguided group of German students as they navigate teenage self-discovery and coming of age anxiety in a powerful celebration of youth and rebellion.

Artistic Directors James Baker and Austin Fitzsimmons aim to give North West performers work in the region, as opposed to London. Assembled Junks mission is to "give them that opportunity without having to compromise what they have already established” says James.

The Kings Arms in Salford has been chosen by the company due to its raw and undefined space. Their hope is that they can create a northern version of The Landor Theatre in London “It’s our intention to show Manchester what can be achieved with artistry and sheer hard work. Venues like The Landor in London prove this."

The cast features Mathew Waters, Lauren Aviah Clarke, Rick Bithel, Emma ClarkeAmy Forrest, Lesley Kaufman, Matthew Kirk, James Lloyd-Skinner, Ben Rigby, Francesca Swarbrick, Danielle Weir and Rob Woodward.

Spring Awakening
is at the King's Arms in Salford from 15 - 21 April.
