Evita starring Marti Pellow comes to the West End

Following the news that Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats is returning to the West End, the Lord is set to have another of his musicals in London, with Evita coming to the Dominion Theatre later this year.

The show, which was co-written by Webber and Tim Rice, will open on 22 September, with previews from 16 September and will play for a limited period of 55 performances.

The production will star Marti Pellow as Che Guevara and Madalena Alberto as Eva Person, reprising their roles from the recent UK tour.

Directed by Bill Kenwright and Bob Tomson, Evita will be the first show at the newly refurbished Dominion Theatre since the closure of Queen musical We Will Rock You.

Telling the story of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, Evita follows Eva's journey from humble beginnings through to extraordinary wealth, power and iconic status which ultimately lead her to be heralded as the 'spiritual leader of the nation' by the Argentine people.

The score includes well known songs such as "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", "Oh What a Circus" and "Another Suitcase in Another Hall".
