Luke Sheppard is to direct the British premiere of musical Murder For Two at the Watermill Theatre as part of their 50th anniversary season.

Sheppard directed In The Heights and the Watermill's 2015 production of Oliver! and takes on the musical which originally opened off Broadway in 2013. The comedy is a murder whodunit where two actors play 13 characters. The show runs between 26 January to 25 February and will transfer to The Other Palace – formerly the St James Theatre – following its run at the Watermill.

Olivier Award-winning actor Ian McDiarmid will also appear in the new season in Faust x 2. The show is the actor's own adaptation, inspired by Philip Wayne's translation of Goethe's dramatic poem. Lisa Blair directs the piece which runs between 2 and 25 March.

Watermill artistic director Paul Hart will direct a new production of Twelfth Night set in the 1920s during prohibition. The piece runs in rep with Hart's production of Romeo + Juliet from earlier this year and will feature a cast of actor-musicians. Twelfth Night will tour internationally after it runs at the Watermill from 6 April to 6 May.

Comedies House and Garden by Alan Ayckbourn will be staged simultaneously at the Watermill in the theatre and garden. The productions will be directed by Elizabeth Freestone and will run between 25 May and 1 July.

Ellen Robertson's new play Nesting will open at the Watermill from 4 to 8 July before touring and Tristan Bernays' production of Frankenstein, which has just finished a run at the Watermill, will transfer to Wilton's from 7 to 18 March.
